Tiny Fairies Child’s Desk

Materials:
A little desk and a little chair both in wood
Gesso
Brushes
DecorDécoupage paper code FAI017
Scissors
Elmer’s glue
Acrylic colours Ivory and Lavender
Big natural sponge
Water base varnish
Satin water base varnish
Sand paper 120#, 400#, 600#
Pict.01 – Prepare the background: sand (120#), apply 2-3 coats of gesso, then sand again until smooth.

Pict.02 – Paint desk with 2-3 coats of ivory acrylic colour.

Pict.03 – Apply lavender acrylic colour with a large sea sponge.

Pict.04 – Cut the print from the découpage paper (code FAI017), bathe it in water for a few seconds, remove the excess of water and then glue it in the middle of the desk top.

Pict.05 – Use a drop brush to frame the print with lavender acrylic colour as on the picture.

Pict.06 – Highlight the frame borders and inside with ivory acrylic colours, so to give a lace aspect.

Pict.07 – Cut other fairies prints from the découpage paper and glue them all around the main print.
Apply 15 coats of water base varnish, then sand with #400 paper. Apply ten
coats of water base varnish, then sand again with #600 paper.
From here on alternate five coats of water base varnish and sand to reduce the paper thickness.

Pict.08 - Finish the project with two coats of satin water base varnish.

Pict.09 – Final decoration.

Use the same procedure to decorate the little chair.
