Peacocks Box

Materials:
Wooden box
Découpage paper code OOC025
gesso
brusch
scissors and scalpel
Elmer’s glue
acrylic colors black and brown
golden foil glue
gold foils
water base varnish
French polish
sand papers and micromesh
paper adhesive tape.
Pict. 01 – Separate the boxes’ parts and sand. Subsequently apply 2-3 coats of gesso. If necessary sand again and apply more gesso to smooth.

Pict. 02 – Mix black and brown and paint all the boxes’ parts with 2 -3 coats of color.

Pict. 03 – This background was done with fake tortoise shell effect, however the project can be done with a simple dark brown background.

Pict. 04 – Use paper adhesive tape to make a subtle frame over the top of the box so as shown on the picture. Use a thin drop brush (n.3) to apply golden leaf glue.

Pict. 05 – Wait the necessary time for glue to become transparent, then apply golden foil over the thin frame.

Pict. 06 – Remove tape, then isolate with French polish.

Pict. 07 – Cut the découpage prints (paper code OOC025).

Pict. 08 – This paper has very thin details, so avoid to submerge in the water, but apply glue directly over the boxes’ top, and apply the print.

Pict. 09 – Use a humid sponge to help avoiding air bubbles and wrinkles.

Pict. 10 – Realize a composition of birds and flowers.

Pict. 11 – Apply several coats of water base varnish and start sanding after the 20th coat. From that use sand paper every 5 – 10 coats of varnish
Finish with micromesh.
